Our New Missions Journey with Wycliffe Bible Translators
We’re excited to share about an opportunity to bring hope to millions of people using our specific gifts and passions. We have explored missions for a long time, but never felt called to anything specific…until now! We’ve recently had an undeniable call to become missionaries with Wycliffe Bible Translators.
Wycliffe Bible Translators
Today there are hundreds of English translations of the Bible, but there are still ~1.5 billion people lacking a full Bible in their own heart language, and ~1,600 languages lacking a single verse of Scripture.

For 75 years, Wycliffe has helped people around the world translate the Bible into their own languages. Wycliffe also helps with language development, literacy and other spiritual and physical needs.
In 1999, Wycliffe’s leaders realized that at the speed translation was going, it would be at least 2150 before a Bible translation could be started for every language that needed one. As they thought about the people dying around the world every day without hearing the Good News of the gospel, they felt God calling them to adopt a new goal for accomplishing the mission.
Wycliffe’s leaders committed to do everything they could to see a Bible translation program in progress in every language still needing one by 2025 and Wycliffe is working faster than ever to reach those languages as soon as possible.
Training Wycliffe Bible Translators
We believe the Scriptures are God’s witness to himself, so when we learned of the need for Bible translation and that we were specially gifted for the task, we were immediately drawn in.
Wycliffe affirmed Todd’s academic background (PhD in Biblical Interpretation with teaching and publication experience) and his desire to use those gifts for the kingdom of God. They also affirmed Dezi’s desire to reach the nations with her love for the Lord.
In order to translate the Bible into new languages, Wycliffe Bible Translators must have training in linguistics and biblical interpretation. When Wycliffe discovered Todd’s love for research and teaching, especially using linguistics to better understand the Bible, they asked him to consider training Bible translators at the Graduate Institute of Applied Linguistics (GIAL) in Dallas, TX.

GIAL invited Todd to join their faculty to teach courses in biblical interpretation and linguistics. Todd will be training aspiring Bible translators to better understand the Bible and the biblical languages so they can more effectively and more accurately translate the Bible into new languages.
You Can Invest in Bible Translators
Your partnership with us through prayer and encouragement helps us get more Bible translators trained and ready for their field assignments in this important work.
GIAL is committed to keep the cost of tuition down so that Bible translation missionaries can get to their field assignments without huge school loan debt. To that end, GIAL asks its faculty to bring their own financial support so that the cost of salaries isn’t added into the tuition as a burden for the Bible translation students.
Wycliffe has determined a budget for this ministry and we must have financial partnership for 100% of the budget before we can be cleared to move to Dallas to begin teaching. We invite you to prayerfully consider committing to monthly, quarterly, or annual financial partnership with our Wycliffe ministry so that you, too, can be part of getting Bible translators trained for the work.
